St. Francis Music Publications is dedicated to enhancing the repertoire for double bass, cello, harp, string instruments, etc. Since its inception in 2001 more than sixty works have been published for double bass and piano (harp), unaccompanied bass, and string ensembles. Approximately ten new works are added to the catalogue each year.
Study of original and transcribed compositions is necessary for the complete education of the double bassist. Original solos and etudes are the foundations of our literature; however, transcribed works of the masters offer students as well as professionals a glimpse into each composer's world. Our insight into the orchestral repertoire is also enhanced. We have the potential to be better musicians for having studied transcriptions, whether or not we ever perform them in public.
Also available are three Double Bass Sampler CD's, primarily designed for students and teachers.

Belwin/Mills originally published 25 double bass solos with piano in 1980. In 1994 Belwin/Mills-Warner Bros. combined the works (18 of 25) in a collection of two volumes. Alfred Publishing assigned the copyright to St. Francis Music Publications in 2007. St. Francis Music Publications will now publish the pieces individually (nine solos in 2008 and nine in 2008-2009).
Other Belwin/Mills-Warner Bros. double bass solos are currently in print in the St. Francis catalog including the Brahms Sonata in E Minor and the Bach Three Sonatas (BWV 1027-29).

Double Bass CD Recordings - Lucas Drew, Double Bass - (Primarily Designed for Students and Teachers)
Double Bass Sampler and Double Bass Sampler II introduce bassists and string teachers to the wide range of literature for the instrument. Most of the compositions were initially recorded by Coronet Recording Co. on three LPs during the mid-1970s. These LPs, designed primarily for students, were among the first bass recordings by an American. The Contemporary Baroque Trio (1977 - 1982) culminated its work with a concert at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York. 20th Century Sampler presents an overview of the many styles of 20th Century compositions for double bass. Most are original works. Only the Henze and Krenek are transcriptions. This CD is dedicated "to the new generations of exceptional double bassists."
